Dropping in to the complexities of surf forecasts

The Problem

Due to the complexities involved with surf forecasts, many sites rely on desktop-only designs. As we progress further and further into using mobile phones for the majority of our tasks, it makes sense to try and solve this issue.

Considerations

For the average surfer looking to go out, there really isn't a lot we need to know. Wind speed/direction, swell height/direction, and tides are most important when deciding whether or not you want to go out. They make or break the waves that hit the beach and can change a lot throughout the day. Water and air tempurature are also key, but those are seasonal changes and dont fluxuate as much as the former.

Design Process

Going back to the problem with complexity, I wanted to make this app for the average surfer. The one who only wants to know if, and when, it's going to be good. They want to wake up and be able to quickly check the forecast, get an overview, and for someone to provide them top-level information.
